About
Yu Rong is a multidisciplinary artist with expertise in a wide range of techniques, including traditional Chinese brush painting, calligraphy, oil painting, printmaking, and mixed media. Practicing art since childhood, she has developed a deep understanding of materials and processes, allowing her to explore diverse artistic expressions. She holds a BFA in Product Design from Parsons School of Design and an MFA in Painting from the New York Studio School. Her work has been exhibited at Ceres Gallery in New York City, ARC Gallery in Chicago, and international design events such as Milan Design Week, Prague Design Week, and the London Design Fair.
In addition to her studio practice, Yu is an experienced art educator. She serves as a teaching educator at the Museum of Chinese in America, where she leads workshops in Chinese art, arts and crafts, and creative techniques. As the leader of the MOCACreate family program, she engages visitors of all ages in hands-on art experiences that celebrate Chinese culture.
Yu also works as an Arts and Crafts Host for Companies, designing and facilitating creative workshops that foster artistic exploration and team building. Her programs introduce participants to a variety of materials and techniques, encouraging creativity and mindfulness in corporate and professional settings.
Drawing inspiration from artistic traditions across cultures—including Indian art, Islamic miniature painting, East Asian art, and European art—Yu works across multiple mediums, including ink, oil, encaustic, egg tempera, pastels, watercolors, collage, printmaking, and clay. Her interactive art projects, ranging from bubble wand painting and encaustic crayon melting to decalcomania, Chinese brush painting, and calligraphy, are designed to inspire creativity and engage participants of all ages.
